The Taylorville High School Advantage
Largest Agriculture Program Downstate . . .
Award winning 4-year Journalism program. . .
Taylorville supports the largest agricultural program downstate and is home to a nationally recognized FFA Chapter. Agriculture curriculum includes production, agricultural science, agricultural mechanics and horticulture, all offered in close cooperation with the University of Illinois.
Taylorville High School is one of just a few high schools to sponsor a newspaper produced entirely by students who win top awards every year. Four years of full-credit journalism courses give students the opportunity to produce a student newspaper and yearbook, and to seek employment with the local radio station and community daily newspaper.Technology on the Move . . .
Taylorville has invested well over $1-million in electronic technology. A full-time coordinator oversees the district's systems. THS students benefit from early technology instruction, with students in the junior high having five computers for every classroom with up-to-the-minute software programs. THS students can access a computer lab during and after school hours. Internet access is available at all schools. Taylorville's outstanding school libraries provide students timely access to statewide databases and over 1.5 million books in over 110 libraries.Outstanding Student-Teacher Ratio . . .
Taylorville High School offers one of the best student-teacher ratios in the state. While the state average is 18.9:1, THS supports a 13.5:1 student-teacher ratio. Students in Taylorville are apt to receive more personal supervision from their instructors, which has led to over 60% of the students going on to higher learning opportunities. We care.
